AFROCOLOMBIANS.

Watch the video and post your response.

After watching the video it’s very easy to conclude that the racial discrimination regarding Afrocolombianos is a severe problem that this society has. it is more than proven that isolating part of the community brings nothing good to the population so it’s hard to understand that many people still think that way just because of the skin color.

That’s why in my opinion the creation of the odr or the observatory on the racial discrimination is a good thing; taking in to consideration that this is more a public matter than a government’s. The odd ensures actions being taken to reduce the racial discrimination. It’s 8 an issue of the past century that should not be relevant now a days. But as humans we will work out on our mistakes.

MULKAVISION: Two Worlds Collide

Read http://mulkatime.blogspot.com/2012/01/two-worlds-collide.html about an American man teaching English in Uganda.

1. What different points of view do we see in this story?

Well I personally think in the story we can clearly see two completely different points of view when it comes to life. There’s these two men; they’re humans, they’re the same.. but their lifes are so different. The white man has it all, he doesn’t need to ask for money or to work for anyone; and this is life as he knows it, easy. On the other hand, the black man is a warrior, he starts working in the moment he gets up; he tries to get food doing things he may not even like. Life for him, is not that easy.  When these two people think about life they think about two completly different adjetives; and that’s because of their education, their culture. The way they have lived their entire life.

2. Explain the reasons behind the miscommunication that occurred between these two men.

There may be so many reasons. their skin color, their moods, their money… But the reason behind this miscommunication problem is their entire lifes; they dont really understand the other one’s lifestyle, they just cant. And what we dont know, we fear. We act in a defensive way and as the white man, we dont even try to understand what the other person is going trough.
